OpenAI Exec: Coworkers Dislike AI Bots Asking for Help, AI Shouldn't Replace Human Bonds
every · x · 2026-08-02
OpenAI executive Greg Brockman observed an interesting phenomenon: many employees hook ChatGPT up to Slack to handle tasks, but coworkers often dislike receiving help requests from an 'AI colleague'. This occurs even when they would be perfectly happy doing the same work if asked by a human.
He noted that this reinforces how much people value human relationships and mutual assistance. People want AI to save time or enhance collaboration, rather than becoming a layer separating individuals. This insight highlights the interpersonal psychological challenges AI agents face when integrating into enterprise collaboration workflows.
