Report: OpenAI's 'Astra' Model is GPT-6 Tier, Will Distill into Sol, Luna, Terra
haider1 · x · 2026-08-02
OpenAI is reportedly developing a new pre-trained model codenamed Astra, which is roughly equivalent to GPT-6 in scale. Positioned as the large 'halo' model, Astra will serve as the parent model. OpenAI could then use it to distill smaller, future versions named Sol, Luna, and Terra. The leak also mentions Anthropic's equivalent model is codenamed Mythos.
