PwC Reports Exposed for Mass AI Hallucinations and Fake Citations
jonerp · x · 2026-08-02
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Middle East was found to have published at least four 'Thought Leadership' reports between 2024 and 2026 riddled with AI hallucinations, fabricated citations, and fake footnotes, confirmed by GPTZero and the Financial Times.
The reports covered前沿 fields like agentic AI and public services but contained glaring errors. For instance, a footnote in one report inadvertently exposed the tracking tag utmsource=chatgpt.com. In another egregious case, a report cited a Medium blog post by a teenager with 280 followers as the sole source for a real-world success story about JPMorgan's AI deployment. EY and KPMG have also recently had to retract papers after publishing AI hallucinations.
