mem-port: Open-Source Local MCP Server for Shared AI Copilot Memory
Ardy1712 · reddit · 2026-08-02
To solve the loss of project context when switching between AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude Code, and Cursor, a developer built mem-port. This local MCP server acts as a shared "pendrive" for AI context.
Using embedded SurrealDB for graph and vector memory, it requires no external services like Postgres or Qdrant. AI tools can save and retrieve long-term memories—such as architectural decisions and past lessons—preventing them from starting from scratch. The project is free and open-source.
