OpenAI Exec: AI Mediating Workplace Interactions Triggers Resentment

Greg Brockman, President and Co-Founder of OpenAI, shared an insight regarding AI ethics and workplace dynamics. He noted that at OpenAI, many people hook their ChatGPT up to Slack.

He observed a specific phenomenon: people really dislike it when a coworker's ChatGPT contacts them asking for help with a task, even though they would be perfectly happy doing that same work if asked directly by the coworker. Brockman believes this reinforces how much people care about human relationships and helping each other, suggesting that people want AI to give time back or enhance time together, rather than becoming a layer separating individuals.
