Anthropic executive Amanda Askell previously tweeted that she does not believe in an AGI future resembling Altered Carbon, where humanity splits into elite "Meths" and subjugated "Grounders."
Fast.ai founder Jeremy Howard pushed back, arguing that a large percentage of humanity has lived in similarly oppressed states for thousands of years. Therefore, rejecting this dystopian outcome as unlikely requires strong evidence rather than just personal disbelief.
