Ex-Google Researcher Predicts AI to Revolutionize Applied Math Within 2 Years

Christian Szegedy, former core researcher at Google, made bold predictions regarding the evolution of AI in mathematics:
- Within 1 year: AI will be strictly better than humans in all problem-solving aspects of math.
- Within 2 years: Producing mathematical theories will become so cheap that AI will generate them on the fly for applied domains.
He further noted that mathematics will become the true infrastructure for all engineering and applied sciences (including AI, biology, optimization, and cybersecurity), fundamentally changing scenarios where theoretical approaches were previously too expensive to be practical.
This perspective echoes the cited post discussing that a new OpenAI model solved 10 important math problems for roughly $2,000 in API costs.
