Hackers Use AI to Brute-Force Cold Wallet Seed Phrases, Stealing $1.6M in Bitcoin

A user reported that $1.6 million in Bitcoin was drained from their ColdCard hardware wallet. Even though the device was kept offline in a safety deposit box, hackers exploited a vulnerability in the wallet's seed phrase generation code and used AI to brute-force the seed phrases.
Security experts warn that as AI tools become vastly more capable, attacks exploiting hardware seams like this are about to happen at scale.
