AI Fail: Model Confuses Definitions of Misinformation and Disinformation
conitzer · x · 2026-08-02
Researcher Vincent Conitzer shared an amusing AI failure case. While attempting to explain the concept, the AI model provided an incorrect definition for "misinformation."
The model incorrectly conflated it with requiring malicious intent, whereas in reality, only "disinformation" specifically requires the intent to deceive. The AI essentially generated misinformation about the meaning of the word itself.
