Zipline Hires Staff Controls Engineer as Delivery Costs Rival Cars
AnandSwa · x · 2026-08-02
Zipline is hiring a Staff Controls Engineer, seeking an independent, first-principles thinker with a track record of shipping complex products to drive hard problems to completion. Flight dynamics experience is considered a plus.
According to a cited Sequoia podcast, Zipline has built the largest autonomous system on Earth, accumulating over 140 million autonomous flight miles with zero safety incidents. By building almost everything from scratch—including flight computers and air traffic software—they have successfully slashed delivery costs from $300 to $12, making drone delivery cheaper than using a car.
