Square Enix Automates Game QA Testing with Gemini AI Agents

Square Enix (SE) showcased its new automated game QA testing system at Google Cloud Next. The system is built on Google's multimodal Gemini model and the Enterprise Agent Platform.
- Multimodal Autonomous Testing: The AI can directly "watch" complex game screens and listen to audio to understand the current situation. It then operates controllers, checks in-game maps, and progresses through tasks like a human player.
- Solving Bottlenecks: Addressing the massive workload of traditional QA, this AI infrastructure automates the entire workflow—from test design and auto-play to graphics bug detection and text verification—drastically shortening development cycles.
- Player-Facing AI: Beyond development, SE plans to introduce a conversational AI buddy powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash into Dragon Quest X this August.
