Responding to the hype around OpenAI's Astra model solving major math problems, AI researcher Gary Marcus offered a critical perspective.
He argued that it is deeply misleading to claim the model can be used with high quality for "every problem in life." Most real-world problems are simply not as amenable to formal methods and data augmentation as mathematics is, meaning users will likely face subpar results in broader applications.
