Looped Transformers from 2018 will boom in 2026, researcher jokes
prajdabre · x · 2026-08-01
Researcher Prajdabre humorously trolled the AI community's hype cycles on X. He noted that Noam Shazeer introduced Mixture of Experts (MoE) in 2016, which exploded in popularity in 2024. Similarly, he joked that the Looped Transformers architecture he co-proposed in 2018 will finally have its moment in 2026, claiming he is "8 years ahead of the game."
When some users mistook the tweet for serious arrogance, Prajdabre quickly clarified it was pure sarcasm, self-deprecatingly asking how anyone could seriously compare themselves to Noam Shazeer.
