Google pulled its Nano Banana 2 image model from Google Earth just two days after launch. The reason: users discovered it was incredibly easy to generate convincing fake satellite imagery.

Demos showed that a simple prompt was enough to fill an empty lot at the Mexican border with a fabricated column of refugees. This low barrier to generating deepfakes sparked concerns over misinformation, prompting Google to act swiftly.
