OpenAI is preparing a new model family tentatively named Astra, designed for multi-agent collaboration over long periods to solve complex problems like advanced mathematics or team-based projects.
According to The Information, Astra represents a new class of models alongside Sol, Terra, and Luna. Sam Altman has already demoed the system to policymakers and regulators in Washington, signaling a major shift towards long-horizon agentic AI.
