OpenRouter Launches Kimi K3 Nitro Mode for Maximum Token Throughput
charles_irl · x · 2026-08-01
OpenRouter has announced the "Nitro" acceleration mode for Moonshot AI's 2.8T parameter open-weight multimodal reasoning model, Kimi K3. By appending ":nitro" to the model name, the system automatically routes across providers to deliver the highest token throughput.
Kimi K3 natively supports a 1M token context, with pricing set at $2.90 per 1M input tokens and $14 per 1M output tokens. The model is highly suited for complex coding, knowledge work, and long-horizon agentic workflows, particularly excelling at navigating large repositories, tool usage, and processing image and log feedback.
