YouTuber Hank Green Scales Back Channels Amid AI Usage Controversy
omooretweets · x · 2026-08-01
Prominent YouTuber Hank Green recently sparked an AI controversy after using the phrase "I appreciate the feedback," which viewers accused of sounding like it was generated by Claude. Green clarified that while his scripts aren't AI-generated, he does use AI to find papers and inform his video topics.
The response only fueled the backlash. Green later wrote on Reddit that interacting with LLMs gives him too much dopamine, allowing him to produce an excessive amount of content that he fears is "diluting himself." Consequently, he plans to ramp down or halt production on some channels to moderate his own AI usage. Ironically, the quality of his recent content hasn't degraded, with thousands of viewers leaving overwhelmingly positive comments.
