Altman's Latest Talk: Shelving Sora to Focus Compute, and Getting Addicted to TikTok

In a recent interview, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared deep insights into startup methodologies, product trade-offs, and AGI development. He revealed that the company paused Sora and its browser project to concentrate compute and resources on more core areas like coding agents. He also admitted to getting unexpectedly addicted to TikTok while researching short-video mechanisms, eventually deleting it to maintain focus.
Altman noted that startups are growing faster than ever and that AI models are iterating exponentially. He emphasized that AI should not be monopolized by a few, and the key to avoiding techno-authoritarianism is universal access. In management, he advocates promoting executives from within and focusing on strengths rather than fixating on weaknesses.
