Amazon Invests $50B in OpenAI for 5% Stake Ahead of IPO

Amazon has completed a $50 billion investment in OpenAI, securing a roughly 5% stake ahead of the ChatGPT maker's expected public listing next year, according to the Financial Times. OpenAI, valued at $852 billion, received the final tranche this week.
Furthermore, Amazon disclosed on Friday that it has committed as much as $33 billion to Anthropic, the maker of Claude, with $18 billion invested to date. This marks a comprehensive strategy by Amazon to place massive bets on top-tier AI model companies.
