W&B Launches BYOB Media: Render Cloud-Hosted Media Directly in Agent Traces
wandb · x · 2026-08-01
Weights & Biases' Weave introduced the BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) Media feature, optimizing how media data is displayed during agent tracing.
- Core Pain Point: Developers previously had to re-upload gigabytes of video or images to W&B to view them in traces, which was time-consuming and bandwidth-intensive.
- Solution: Developers can now keep media files in their own cloud storage (e.g., S3) and simply log the URI string within an agent span.
- Rendering Mechanism: Weave automatically resolves the URI and renders the image or video inline in the UI. The actual file bytes stay in the user's bucket, drastically reducing data transfer costs.
