Dev Repurposes Spotify Car Thing into a Portable Claude Code Controller
hehehebidksixbrsja · reddit · 2026-08-01
A developer has successfully repurposed the discontinued Spotify Car Thing hardware into a dedicated terminal for Claude Code.
- Core Features: It allows users to manage Claude coding sessions, answer permission requests or multiple-choice questions directly from the device, and monitor usage.
- Under the Hood: Built on top of Nocturne, the device can seamlessly switch back to music mode and act as a standard Spotify controller at any time.
- Hardware: It operates entirely via Bluetooth and only requires a power cable. By plugging it into a power bank, users can walk around their house while using it.
The project has been fully open-sourced on GitHub.
