Gemini for macOS Adds 'Speak to Window' Voice Interaction Feature
testingcatalog · x · 2026-08-01
Google is rolling out the "Speak to Window" voice feature for the Gemini macOS app globally to English users. By long-pressing the Fn key, users can invoke voice input directly within their active workspace without switching to a separate chat window.
Beyond standard dictation, the tool automatically polishes transcripts by removing filler words and formatting text. With reasoning mode enabled in settings, Gemini can also leverage on-screen context—such as local files, images, or selected text—to execute complex commands like content extraction, rewriting, or image generation and editing.
