Umbra Studio: An Open-Source, Local-First AI Creation Suite Built on ComfyUI
NocturneLabs · reddit · 2026-08-01
NocturneLabs has released Umbra Studio, an open-source, local-first AI creation studio designed to centralize a creator's workflow.
Built around ComfyUI and AI-Toolkit, its main features include:
- Power Prompter: Build modular prompt cards and variants to generate massive sets of prompts for image iteration.
- Unified Frontend: Supports text-to-image, img2img, inpainting, video generation, and upscaling with clean handoffs between workflows.
- Asset Management: Gallery and filmstrip views to organize large libraries, inspect metadata, and send media directly into other workflows.
- Data Forge: Built-in tool to browse major booru sources, research tags, create CSV-backed datasets, and prepare data for model training.
- Local & Remote: Runs entirely locally without cloud services; supports remote control from laptops, tablets, or phones via a private Tailscale connection.
The project was developed over seven months using Bun, TypeScript, React, and Tailwind CSS.
