Qualcomm has officially acquired AI software startup Modular. In a recent interview, Modular's co-founder explained the strategic thinking behind the deal: heterogeneous compute is inevitable, and software has been the primary bottleneck.
Leveraging Qualcomm's massive compute footprint from edge to cloud, the Modular team will continue its original mission to build an open AI infrastructure standard and solve hardware-software portability challenges.
