Musk Claims 99.99% of AI Compute Will Move to Space; Polymarket Odds at 25% for 2027

Polymarket · x · 2026-08-01

Elon Musk recently declared that >99.99% of AI computing will eventually move to space. On the prediction market Polymarket, the odds of an AI data center being launched into orbit by the end of next year currently sit at 25%.

According to the market's resolution criteria, a qualifying orbital data center must carry at least 100 data-center-grade AI accelerators (e.g., H100s). Multiple tech giants and startups are accelerating orbital AI infrastructure to bypass terrestrial power and cooling limits. For instance, Starcloud plans to demonstrate training a model on an NVIDIA H100 in orbit by December 2025, while Google's collaboration with Planet Labs targets solar-powered satellite tests by early 2027.
