Testing Apple Xcode 27 Coding Agent: Multiplayer Game Fails Due to GameKit Limits
atShruti · x · 2026-08-01
A dev team tested the coding agents in Apple Xcode 27 beta to build a multiplayer poker app across four cities.
Process & Findings:
- Initial Success: The agent successfully used Claude designs to autonomously open a browser, create identities on Apple's developer portal, and push the app to TestFlight.
- Bottleneck: Building the game on GameKit failed because it lacks persistent groups, shared standings, and shared game state. GameKit is built for arcade matches, meaning Swift and GameKit currently aren't agent-ready.
- Workaround: The team rebuilt the app using Expo, React Native, and Firebase, orchestrating 3 agents in parallel via pen dot dev.
