Apple Open-Sources SHARP: Generating Photorealistic 3D Views from a Single Image in Under a Second
tom_doerr · x · 2026-08-01
Apple has open-sourced the SHARP project on GitHub. This approach utilizes 3D Gaussian splatting for monocular view synthesis, enabling the generation of photorealistic 3D views from a single 2D image in less than one second.
Accompanying a research paper of the same name, the project tackles the challenge of balancing speed and photorealism in 3D scene reconstruction from a single image, showing significant potential for AR/VR content creation and computer vision applications.
