Testing Apple Xcode 27 Coding Agents: Multiplayer Game Build Fails
atShruti · x · 2026-08-01
A dev team tested the coding agents in Apple Xcode 27 beta by attempting to build a multiplayer poker app using GameKit.
Test Results:
- Initial Success: The agent successfully deployed the app to TestFlight, even opening a browser to create identities on Apple's developer portal.
- Core Failure: It failed at building the actual game logic. Apple GameKit lacks groups, shared standings, and persistent shared game states, making it unsuitable for persistent multiplayer sessions among friends.
The team eventually abandoned the native approach and rebuilt the app using Expo, React Native, and Firebase, running 3 agents in parallel with pen.dot.dev.
