Surge AI Releases High-Quality Datasets: Non-Coding Data Boosts Coding Benchmarks
echen · x · 2026-08-01
Surge AI's research team demonstrated the effectiveness of its high-quality training datasets. Using just a fifth of the data, their coding dataset improved model performance on Terminal-Bench 2.0 by 12.0 percentage points, and their enterprise agent dataset boosted Toolathlon scores by 9.6 points.
Counterintuitively, some of their non-coding datasets (containing zero lines of code) also improved coding performance by 6 points on SWE-Bench Pro, proving strong cross-domain generalization. The full versions (5x larger) are now available off the shelf.
