Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio and over 1,000 scientists from frontier AI companies are warning that the current commercial race poses unacceptable security risks. They are calling for an international effort to develop technical and governance guardrails.

Scholar Gillian Hadfield further suggested that governments should not rely on 20th-century regulatory models like FINRA and the FDA. Instead, they should leverage existing AI governance designs—such as regulatory market mechanisms already entering state legislation—and avoid trying to write exhaustive rules for AGI all at once.
