Cloudflare Agents SDK Adds Support for Latest MCP Specification
ritakozlov · x · 2026-08-01
Cloudflare's Agents SDK (v0.20.0) now supports the latest MCP 2026-07-28 release candidate.
- Client & Server Support: Workers can serve tools, prompts, and resources without an MCP transport session or Durable Object. It maintains backward compatibility with legacy servers.
- Stateless Requests: The client probes for stateless protocol support and falls back to legacy initialization if unsupported. Multi-round-trip elicitation is handled via inputrequired.
- OAuth Validation: OAuth callbacks validate issuer metadata via the v2 SDK, with discovery state persisting across browser redirects and Durable Object hibernation.
- Stateless Servers: createMcpHandler now accepts a factory function to create an isolated server instance for each request.
