a16z partner Martin Casado reports that the commercial agreement for Moonshot's Kimi model involves a 30% take rate. He notes that hosting a model of this size is extremely difficult and almost certainly requires a sophisticated commercial provider. While Moonshot's reasons are understandable, this clearly shows that 'open' very much does not mean 'free'.
