Bloomberg reports that Moonshot AI runs its Kimi models on roughly 20,000 Nvidia chips accessed through a confidential deal with Alibaba, its largest investor.
This hardware constitutes a substantial share of Moonshot's total compute. Sources identified the chips as older Hopper H200 parts, a claim Alibaba called "completely groundless." However, Alibaba did not deny supplying the 20,000 chips or specify the actual models, highlighting the common practice of funded startups relying on investor cloud infrastructure.
