Hyperscalers' AI Compute Backlog Jumps to $2.3 Trillion, Poised for Massive Margin Expansion
JOBhakdi · x · 2026-07-31
The combined backlog for hyperscale cloud providers has surged from $806 billion in Q2 2025 to $2.3 trillion as of Q2 2026.
Nearly half of this backlog is expected to convert over the next two years and renew at materially higher prices. Currently, rental rates for even 6-year-old A100 GPUs are up 20% year-over-year. Analysts anticipate renewal rates could be around 50% higher than original contracts, driving massive incremental gross margins for AMZN, MSFT, GOOG, and ORCL.
