METR and Redwood to Independently Review OpenAI's Recent Model Incident
ambaonadventure · x · 2026-07-31
Third-party evaluation organization METR announced an agreement with OpenAI to conduct an independent review, alongside Redwood Research, of the model behavior observed during the recent Hugging Face incident. METR plans to publish a blog post detailing the engagement terms, review scope, and tentative conclusions.
However, some industry observers remain skeptical, arguing that external technical analysis matters less than OpenAI's internal corporate decision-making processes and the underlying reasons why the company continues to make highly controversial decisions.
