Dev Open-Sources Zeta: An Ambient Agent Runtime Built on Codex
remilouf · x · 2026-07-31
Developer @remilouf shared his custom AI agent system refined over months. It automatically fetches info, runs scheduled tasks, reacts to events, and supports voice/text interactions, significantly reducing daily mental load.
He also open-sourced the underlying runtime, Zeta. It is an "ambient agent runtime" with key features:
- Markdown-defined: Agents are configured using simple Markdown files.
- Event-driven: Wakes agents up when relevant events occur.
- Ongoing responsibilities: Designed for continuous tasks like sorting inboxes, preparing weekly scheduled reports, or replying to Slack messages, with support for passing tasks between agents.
