Reddit CEO Steve Huffman stated on an earnings call that whether for model training, search links, or AI overviews, Reddit treats each as an independent decision to maximize company value.
Analysis notes that traditional search remains the primary driver of Reddit's Daily Active Users (DAU). Although AI search might reduce outbound clicks, Reddit content will likely remain in traditional search results to protect stock price and traffic. However, providing content as model training fodder without outbound links may face restrictions due to misaligned incentives.
