50+ Institutions Unite to Build Open-X-Tactile, World's Largest Tactile Dataset

The embodied AI community is building Open-X-Tactile, an open-source project aiming to create the world's largest heterogeneous tactile manipulation dataset.
- Goal: Establish a unified data format and benchmark ecosystem for tactile sensing, serving as the tactile equivalent of Open X-Embodiment.
- Scale: Over 50 institutions and companies are already involved, including UC Berkeley, MIT, CMU, Tsinghua, and ETH Zurich.
- Openness: Welcomes contributions of any scale, covering various tactile sensors, robot embodiments, and manipulation setups.
Currently in private organization phases, the initiative has launched a preview site and is accepting applications from interested institutions.
