DeepSeek V4-Flash Natively Supports Codex with Setup Guide
zephyr_z9 · x · 2026-07-31
DeepSeek officially announced that the V4-Flash API is live in public beta with massively upgraded Agent capabilities. It natively supports OpenAI's Responses API format and is fully adapted for Codex.
The official API docs detail how to configure DeepSeek as the model provider for Codex:
- One-Click Setup: Provides automatic setup scripts for macOS/Linux and Windows, which back up existing configs and write model metadata (context window, tool call formats, etc.).
- Cross-Client Support: Once configured, DeepSeek models work seamlessly across Codex CLI, the ChatGPT desktop app, and the VS Code extension.
- Timeline: Currently, only V4-Flash supports Codex; V4-Pro support is expected by early August 2026.
