LightOn Releases Fully Open Multilingual Retrieval Models mDenseOn & mLateOn
antoine_chaffin · x · 2026-07-31
LightOn has introduced mDenseOn and mLateOn, their next generation of fully open models designed for multilingual, long-context, and code retrieval.
Maintaining frontier performance, the release emphasizes complete openness by shipping not just the model weights, but also the training data and code. Developers note that the models' performance on Out-Of-Distribution (OOD) data highlights the critical importance of late interaction mechanisms.
