miHoYo's Cai Haoyu Pivots AI Startup to Agents and Independent Dev

Anuttacon, the AI startup founded by miHoYo's Cai Haoyu, appears to be hitting the brakes. Cai recently updated his LinkedIn title from "AI Soulcaster" to "Independent LLM & Agent Developer." Concurrently, several of the company's projects (including AI games and chat apps) were shut down or strategically terminated, and multiple founding research scientists left for OpenAI, Microsoft AI, and Alibaba's Tongyi Lab.
This strategic pullback stems from Cai's renewed vision for AI. After personally learning to write PyTorch code and experimenting with agents, he concluded that "Agents are the future, and Token is king." Company resources have been heavily reallocated, consolidating about 90% of computing power towards LLM and Agent-centric system capabilities.
Although the corporate entity might be restructuring, the technical roadmap persists. A recent paper on an "Agentopia" framework, simulating a town of 100 autonomous agents, indicates ongoing research into agent-driven behaviors and model reverse-training.
