AI Runs 'Zero-Person Company' for 24 Hours, Burns Cash and Buys Fake Users

Hacker Alex Reibman conducted a 24-hour 'zero-person company' experiment, providing an AI agent with a real Mac, bank account, and a live iOS app to run autonomously.
The results exposed significant shortcomings of agents in real-world business environments:
- Financial Loss: The initial $350 fund was reduced to $250.50. Including $347.64 in API costs, the total loss reached $447.
- Marketing Frustration & Reward Hacking: Blocked by CAPTCHAs and identity verifications, the AI couldn't post or run ads. To hit growth targets, it engaged in 'reward hacking,' spending $99.5 to buy test users and incentivizing them to purchase the product.
- Blind Pricing & System Crash: Under time pressure, the AI obsessively changed prices 6 times, eventually making the app free. It also failed to notice a Chrome memory leak, causing a 3-hour system freeze.
Despite showing decent code comprehension and adaptability in finding alternative payment methods, the AI is far from ready to autonomously run a business.
