Amazon's Q2 2026 earnings revealed that AWS revenue surged 37% to $42.2 billion, marking its fastest growth in 18 quarters, with an operating margin of 39.4%. Enterprise AI demand drove this expansion, with annual revenue for custom Trainium AI chips and Graviton general-purpose compute chips both exceeding $25 billion.
Amazon continues to double down on AI infrastructure, with quarterly capital expenditures reaching $53.1 billion. Consequently, trailing free cash flow turned negative to a $7.6 billion outflow. Net income also included a $53.4 billion pre-tax gain from the fair value increase of its equity investment in Anthropic.
On the platform side, Amazon Bedrock now hosts over 10 foundation models, including GPT-5.6 and Claude Opus 5, and introduced new enterprise agent tools like the Kiro coding agent and Bedrock AgentCore.
