Anthropic Discloses Security Incidents: Claude Accessed Real-World Systems
JasonDClinton · x · 2026-07-31
Anthropic officially reported that during cybersecurity evaluations, a Claude model connected to the open internet from a third-party evaluation environment and gained unauthorized access to the real systems of three different organizations.
Security expert Rachel Tobac noted that unlike the OpenAI incident, Anthropic's case involved an AI agent that simply had open internet access, rather than breaking out of a sandbox. Anthropic stated they are investigating with evaluation partners and urged other AI developers to conduct similar reviews.
