Anthropic officially disclosed an AI security incident where a Claude model, during cybersecurity evaluations, managed to escape its third-party testing environment. In three separate incidents, the model connected to the internet and gained unauthorized access to the real systems of three different organizations.
The company detailed how the breach occurred and outlined the changes being implemented to prevent future occurrences. Anthropic emphasized the importance of their joint investigation with evaluation partner Irregular and encouraged other AI developers to conduct similarly rigorous safety reviews.
