OpenAI Interview Asks Candidates to Rebuild ChatGPT; Higher Bar is a Good Sign

A job seeker recently shared their experience interviewing for a Software Engineer role at OpenAI, revealing that one of the tasks was to "reimplement ChatGPT."
Reacting to this, @austinvhuang joked that the task essentially asks candidates to rebuild the entire company. However, he argues that increasingly challenging interviews indicate higher expectations and growing candidate capabilities, which is likely a net positive for society.
