Testing GitHub Copilot: Generating Robot Inverse Kinematics Code from Scratch
kamathsblog · x · 2026-07-31
To use up 75% of his GitHub Copilot credits before a reset, a developer asked the tool to create an inverse kinematics (IK) demo for the SO-101 robot from scratch using ROS 2 and PyKDL.
The author was shocked and even a bit scared by the AI's math capabilities. However, he later noted that while the math was impressive, the generated code structure was still "AI slop," so he plans to throw it away and replace it with MoveIt.
