Google Launches Native Gemini Mac App with Voice and Screen Automation
GeminiApp · x · 2026-07-31
Google has officially launched the native Gemini app for macOS, positioning it as a system-level AI assistant for Mac.
Users can summon the app anytime via Option + Space. The standout feature is its support for screen context reading and voice commands. By holding the Fn key and speaking, Gemini can read your active screen and generate polished text directly at your cursor without any copy-pasting.
Additionally, the app introduces Gemini Spark, allowing users to automate local file operations, such as cleaning up folders or summarizing local files into Google Docs and Sheets. The app is currently rolling out to Google AI Ultra users aged 18+ in supported countries.
