No Finetuning Needed: LLM Agents Boost Robot Success to 97.3%
tri_dao · x · 2026-07-31
Researchers have found that off-the-shelf robot policies (like π0.5) can execute actions but lack planning capabilities. By wrapping an LLM around the robot model to act as an external brain—creating an agent capable of planning, verifying, and recovering from errors—performance can be massively improved without any new finetuning.
Real-world tests show that this "agents for robots" approach skyrocketed task success rates from 16.7% to 97.3% on a physical robot, and from 12.8% to 53.3% in the LIBERO-PRO simulation.
