Dev Builds Virtual Pet That Feeds on Claude Code Tokens
franwbu · reddit · 2026-07-31
A developer created Nomlings, a fun desktop pet project built around Claude Code. It reads local Claude Code hooks and session transcripts to track token usage, tool errors, and task completions.
This invisible data is translated into the pet's behavior: it eats the tokens burned, celebrates finished tasks, gets grumpy on errors, and even dances to your music. The project runs entirely locally without proxying the API, built with Rust and Tauri v2.
